CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETING

This mode of interpreting requires no soundproof booth or special equipment, only pen and paper.

➤ I interpret once the speaker stops talking. To do this, I take notes while the speaker delivers their speech and I translate the message aloud once they finish.

➤ This mode of interpreting is ideal for small meetings in which only one participant speaks in another language, as well as for small groups, interviews and bilateral meetings.

➤ The speaker needs to make pauses throughout the speech –approximately every 5 minutes– so the interpreter can translate the message into the target language.

➤ One of its advantages is that the interpreter needs neither a soundproof booth nor any other type of equipment, only pen and paper.
